The good bit
In summer time the wasp is really the avid gardeners friend- contrary to many people thoughts the wasp enjoys a high protein diet of aphids, grubs and larvae i.e. all the garden pests you are probably trying to stop from eating your roses and ornamental plants.!!!!
Contrast the wasps diet to that of the bee i.e. pollen, and you can see how beneficial a role the wasp plays in natural or biological pest control.

The bad bit
As the summer slowly turns cooler and we head into autumn the wasps turn to feeding on the often abundant fermenting fruit and it is at this point they become more prone to causing a nuisance and stinging..
Individuals react differently to being stung by wasps; some are hardly affected, others suffer considerable pain and swelling and a few have allergic reactions.  For this reason we always advise letting a professional deal with a wasps’ nest.

Methods of control
There are a few methods on wasp nest destruction open to use, and often the situation dictates which method is suitable.  Commonly an insecticidal dust will be used to cover the entrance, and blown into the nest.
